Exercising is an essential part of all weight loss, but exercise can be difficult when you are in pain because of your PCOS. Because of this, it is best to start small and work your way up to more strenuous exercise. Start by taking a short daily walk around your block. Once you become accustomed to this exercise, your body will become accustomed to the activity and crave the exercise.
If you belong to a PCOS support group, try exercising with the women in your group. Organize a short weekend hike or make plans to do yoga at someone’s home. You are comfortable with these women, and you will not have to explain if you need to sit down and take a break. You will also be more motivated to do the exercise because you have a support system.
You may also want to enroll in a low-impact exercise class with a friend. Pilates or dance classes are a fun way to get that exercise in without feeling like you are in high school gym class. If you are having fun, you are more likely to go, even on days when you may not be feeling very well.
